Q. HOW DO I INSTALL THE APP ON MY DEVICE?
A. Go to Google Play Store, Apple App Store or Amazon App Store to download the app. Alternatively, you can sign up to receive a free trial from our site. If the app is given to you as part of your DSA funding, your assistive technology service provider (ATSP) will provide you with a redemption / pin code to enter into your device when you first install the app. If you can’t find your code contact your ATSP.
Q. HOW DOES THE APP WORK?
A. Open the app’s sample file to get to grips with the fundamentals. Open the information menu for tutorial/glossary. Check out our videos for bitesize support.
Q. HOW MANY BOOKMARKS CAN I SAVE IN A SINGLE RECORDING?
A. You can save as many bookmakrs as you like.
Q. HOW DO I RENAME A BOOKMARK TITLE?
A. The app automatically assigns a numerical title to your bookmarks, so you don’t have to enter a bookmark title. To edit the bookmark title, click the saved bookmark and select the edit icon in the top right corner of the screen. Select Edit Name, enter your title and select OK.
Q. CAN I RENAME AUDIO FILES AND FOLDERS?
A. Yes, you can re-name audio files and folders. You can also move audio files from one folder to another.
Q. HOW MUCH AUDIO CAN I SAVE IN MY APP?
A. New devices usually have 64Gb to 128Gb of storage, so there is plenty of room for all your apps, operating software and photographs. Each audio file you save will vary in size depending on the quality of the sound recording you choose and the file format. With 10Gb you could save up to 100 hours audio in MP4 format or 40-60 hours of audio in WAV format. Once you have uploaded your recordings to your PC, you can delete them from your device to free up space.
Q. WILL MY DEVICE'S MICROPHONE BE GOOD ENOUGH TO RECORD?
A. Your device’s microphone is an omni-directional microphone which picks up sound from all around you. This is fine for small discussion groups or meetings, but might not be so good in a lecture hall or conference room. You may find using a directional microphone with your device will make a better audio recording. Our directional microphone is included in the Notetalker Pro. You can buy it from our shop.
Q. CAN I USE A WIRELESS MICROPHONE WITH THE SMARTPHONE OR TABLET?
A. Yes, you can use our wireless microphone and receiver to transmit the sound of the speaker from the front of a room to where the device is located. Contact us for more information firstname.lastname@example.org or buy accessories from our online shop.
Q. HOW DO I SHARE MY AUDIO FILES SAVED IN MY DEVICE?
A. We recommend sending your files via a cloud sharing service such as Dropbox. Audio files are usually too large to send as attachments by email.
Q. CAN I LISTEN TO MY APP FILES ON WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER OR SIMILAR?
A. Yes you can, but you will not be able to see any bookmarks you have saved. Upload the recording to Notetalker Edit to listen to the audio and view your bookmarks.
Q. WHAT IF MY DEVICE'S BATTERY IS RUNNING LOW?
A. Our portable battery power bank is included in Notetalker Pro. You can buy it from our shop.
Q. HOW DO I INSTALL NOTETALKER EDIT ON MY PC?
A. Either download a free trial or purchase it direclty from our online shop. An activation code will be emailed to you. If you do not receive this code, contact us directly. If Notetalker Edit is given to you as part of your DSA funding, your assistive technology service provider (ATSP) will set you up with your note writing solution. If you can’t find your code to activate the program contact your ATSP.
Q. HOW DO I GET JAVA TO USE NOTETALKER EDIT?
A. Java can be downloaded for free from the internet. If it isn't detected on your PC instructions will be provided when you install Notetalker Edit on how to download it. For Windows 10 devices use Firefox or Internet Explorer to download Java. Mac users can use Safari. Chrome doesn't support Java Plug-ins so don't use it.
Q. WHERE CAN I FIND A USER GUIDE OR TUTORIAL FOR USING NOTETALKER EDIT?
A. There are on-screen tooltips which guide you through each function of Notetalker Edit. You can also check out our bitesize video guides.
Q. I CAN'T FIND MY FILE THAT I UPLOADED TO DROPBOX - WHAT CAN I DO?
A. Install Dropbox, iCloud or Google Drive on your PC. Files uploaded to iCloud from iOS devices are uploaded as zip files. On a Mac these will be saved in Library/Mobile Applications and on a Windows PC these will be saved in your iCloud folder. On Macs as soon as you open this zip file using Notetalker Edit a new folder will show in the home directory for easy access.
Q. CAN I UPLOAD APP FILES TO MY PC USING A USB CABLE?
A. Yes, you can upload files to your Windows PC using s USB cable. if you have a Mac you will need to use a downloadable software program called iMazing.
Q. CAN I ADD POWERPOINT SLIDES?
Q. CAN I COPY TEXT FROM A DOCUMENT OR THE WEB INTO MY BOOKMARKS?
A. Yes you can use the copy and paste function of the text editor to copy the text to the text area of the bookmark. The formatting and bullet points will not stay with the text so you will need to organise the text layout to suit your notes.
Q. CAN PRINT OUT MY NOTES?
A. Yes. There is a print function in Notetalker Edit. You can print to Word or PDF.
Q. HOW DO I UPDATE TO A NEW VERSION?
A. If your note writing solution is due for an update you will be notified when you open it. All updates are free.
